The Diversity Coordinator is responsible for integrating diversity into every aspect of the business — including the workforce, customers, suppliers, products and services.

S/He works closely with the company leaders to develop strategies that help create and sustain a diverse work environment and drive business outcomes (increase revenue, profitability, market share…).

Examples of diversity initiatives include:

• Recruiting Diverse Employees (persons of varied nationalities or ethnic backgrounds, disabled candidates...)
• Developing Diverse Leaders - Ensure equal access to training & development opportunities
• Selling to Diverse Consumers - Define marketing message to include needs of diverse groups
• Retaining Diverse Employees - Demonstrate organizational commitment to diversity
• Ensuring Compliance with Diversity - Understand how all regulations associated with diversity affect the organization

The Diversity office is often a stand-alone function or a department that reports into the HR organization.
